Grendene S.A. outlines strategy after quarterly results and dividend

The Brazilian footwear manufacturer, has detailed its corporate strategy following its latest financial results, navigating a shifting consumer landscape and challenging international headwinds.
The company characterised its performance as demonstrating operational resilience and financial strength, despite experiencing a compression in margins. In response to the current consumer environment, where buyers are becoming increasingly selective, management highlighted a series of strategic adjustments across its product mix, commercial channels and market positioning. This includes a clear pivot towards more affordable product categories to capture demand.
In the domestic market, Grendene is adjusting its distribution by shifting towards higher-volume, lower-margin channels, expanding its presence in self-service and indirect channels such as wholesalers and distributors. Within its mass-market brands, the company noted that more affordable lines are delivering better results, particularly across men's products and the Ipanema brand. Meanwhile, its value-added Melissa brand experienced a decline in physical store traffic, which was partially counterbalanced by an 18.3 per cent expansion in e-commerce revenue and the continued growth of its franchise network.
Digital channels remain a central pillar of Grendene's expansion strategy, with the company emphasizing that online operations continue to gain strategic relevance and increase their share of total sales.
On the international front, the manufacturer is navigating an unstable global environment marked by geopolitical conflicts, logistical disruptions that have driven up freight costs, and intensified competition. Despite these pressures, the company reported resilient performance in North America and achieved an improvement in its international revenue mix.
Financially, Grendene's margins have faced pressure from lower revenue per pair, reduced fixed-cost dilution, a higher mix of affordable product categories, and the reinstatement of payroll taxes. However, the company continues to maintain a robust financial position, supported by significant cash reserves and substantial financial income, allowing it to sustain its 22-year track record of consistent dividend payments to shareholders.
