UNIC Showcases Leather Industry Training Initiatives to Italian Education Ministry

Italian leather industry association UNIC – Concerie Italiane has presented its education and training initiatives to Italy's Ministry of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between schools and the leather industry.

During a meeting held on July 22, Fulvia Bacchi, UNIC general manager, met with Giuseppe Valditara, to discuss training programs and future strategies aimed at attracting more young people to careers in the tanning sector.

Bacchi said UNIC hopes the discussions will lead to stronger partnerships between educational institutions and businesses. She added that one of the association's key goals is to provide students with real opportunities for education and employment in the leather industry while ensuring companies have access to skilled professionals.

During the meeting, UNIC highlighted several education projects it has been running in recent years. These include master's programs, partnerships with fashion institutes, academies and universities, as well as educational initiatives for younger students such as Le Belle Lettere della Pelle and Amici per la Pelle.

According to UNIC, the minister welcomed these initiatives and agreed that students should be introduced to career opportunities from an early stage of their education.

The discussion also focused on the importance of involving families in students career decisions so that young people can make better informed choices about their future. UNIC also presented its support for advanced technical education and teacher career guidance through its Tanning Orienteering program.

The meeting reflects UNIC's continued efforts to bridge the gap between education and industry while helping secure the next generation of skilled professionals for Italy's leather sector.
