Sylex 3 Highlights Growing Opportunities for Syria’s Leather and Footwear Industry

The Sylex 3 Leather, Footwear and Production Supplies Exhibition was held from August 20 to 22 in Aleppo, bringing together around 60 Syrian and Turkish companies from the leather and footwear industry.

Held at the Production Market, the exhibition was organised under the supervision of the Aleppo Governorate and the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce. The event focused on promoting local products, supporting manufacturers and skilled workers, increasing business activity and creating opportunities for Syrian companies to enter new markets.

The exhibition also highlighted the importance of the leather and footwear industry to Aleppo, which has traditionally been one of Syria’s major industrial centres.

Ahmad Yassin, a member of the Aleppo Executive Office responsible for internal trade, said the event was aimed at supporting the revival of the city’s footwear and leather industry. He noted that previous editions had helped participating companies increase sales and expand their production.

The latest edition also showed growing interest in the event. Zain al-Abidin Qazan, Secretary of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce, said the exhibition had developed significantly since its first edition. Some visitors who attended the first edition later returned as exhibitors at Sylex 3, he said.

The participation of Turkish companies added an international dimension to the exhibition, creating opportunities for producers, suppliers and traders from both countries to develop business connections and explore potential partnerships.

Exhibitors reported encouraging customer response and strong sales during the exhibition, reflecting growing business opportunities in Syria’s leather and footwear sector.

Sylex 3 showcased a range of leather and footwear products, production equipment and supplies. The three-day event provided a platform for companies to promote their products, meet potential customers and strengthen business relationships.

The exhibition also reflected efforts to support the recovery and development of Aleppo’s leather and footwear manufacturing sector while encouraging greater cooperation between Syrian and Turkish businesses.
