Simac Tanning Tech 2026 will bring the leather, footwear and leather goods industries together at Fiera Milano Rho from September 15–17, focusing on technology, digitalization, sustainability and international cooperation.

Organized by Assomac Servizi Srl, the reference event for footwear, leather goods and tanning technology will showcase machinery, components, chemicals, automation and production solutions, alongside an agenda covering decarbonization, digital skills and emerging markets.

The event will open on September 15 with a joint Simac Tanning Tech and Lineapelle opening ceremony involving Assomac, UNIC and the Italian Trade Agency. The first day's program will then turn to technology and sustainability.

One key session will examine how verified data can connect the leather production process from wet-blue to finished leather. Mindhive Global will present an approach designed to help tanneries identify where defects occur during processing by linking measurements taken at different stages.

Sustainability will also feature prominently, with the Portuguese footwear industry's decarbonization roadmap highlighting efforts to reduce emissions and support more competitive production. Another major session will focus on Robbiki Leather City in Egypt, examining industrial development, technology transfer, skills, investment and more sustainable production.

Latin America takes center stage

International cooperation becomes a major theme on September 16, with a dedicated Italy–Latin America seminar examining technologies, markets and industrial opportunities across the region.

The program will also explore technology transfer, prototyping, new materials and production technologies. An Assomac led session will examine how data, connectivity and new services are reshaping machinery manufacturers and the wider leather-fashion supply chain.

Digital and green transition

The final day will focus further on technology, data and sustainability. UNPAC and SPIN360 will discuss the importance of primary environmental data and stronger cooperation between chemical companies and tanneries.

The agenda will also feature STEP2Digital, focusing on the digital and green transition of footwear manufacturing through technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, digital twins, automation and robotics.

Beyond the individual sessions, Simac Tanning Tech 2026 is expected to have a strong international presence. The edition will feature around 290 exhibitors, brands and innovative organizations, with international exhibitors representing more than 20 countries. More than 200 international guests are expected, including official delegations from 26 countries.

With machinery, digitalization, sustainability and international market development running through its three-day program, Simac Tanning Tech 2026 is positioning itself as a platform for the next stage of industrial development across the leather, footwear and leather goods sectors.
