Chinese textile manufacturer Shengtai Intelligent Manufacturing Group has secured key regulatory approvals in China for a MAD 2.29 billion (US$ 246 million) integrated textile manufacturing project in Morocco.

The planned Shengtai Morocco Green Textile Industrial Park has received an Enterprise Overseas Investment Certificate from Hunan’s Department of Commerce and a filing notice from the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission.

The facility is expected to produce high-grade cotton yarn, fabrics and finished garments, creating an integrated textile manufacturing base. Bringing multiple stages of production together could improve efficiency, shorten lead times and strengthen Shengtai’s global supply capabilities.

The investment comes as Morocco attracts growing interest from Chinese manufacturers seeking export-oriented production locations outside Asia. The country’s proximity to Europe, trade agreements and industrial infrastructure make it an attractive gateway to European and African markets.

The project also supports Morocco’s efforts to develop higher-value manufacturing and strengthen its textile industry beyond garment assembly.

If completed, Shengtai’s investment could expand Morocco’s domestic capabilities in yarn, fabric and apparel production, while strengthening its position as a regional textile and export hub.

Details regarding the project’s location, construction timeline, production capacity and employment are yet to be announced.
