Tamil Nadu has secured another major investment in the footwear manufacturing sector, with Taiwan headquartered Bao Yan India Shoe Private Limited signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu to establish its first manufacturing facility in India.
The company plans to invest ₹240 crore in a new facility in Vellore, which is expected to create around 3,000 employment opportunities.
The proposed project marks Bao Yan India Shoe’s first plant in India and will add further momentum to Tamil Nadu’s growing footwear manufacturing ecosystem. The investment is also expected to strengthen the state’s export oriented footwear production capacity and generate employment opportunities in the Vellore region.
The MoU was facilitated with the support of Guidance Tamil Nadu, the state’s investment promotion and facilitation agency, along with the Government of Tamil Nadu as part of its broader industrial development and investment initiatives.
Tamil Nadu has emerged as one of India’s key destinations for footwear manufacturing, supported by its established industrial base, skilled workforce, export infrastructure and strong presence of global footwear companies.
The ₹240 crore Bao Yan investment follows Phoenix Kothari Footwear’s recently announced ₹1,000 crore project in Ramanathapuram, highlighting the growing scale of footwear investments flowing into Tamil Nadu. Together, these projects underline Tamil Nadu’s efforts to attract large scale investments, expand footwear manufacturing capacity and create employment across the state.
