The Leather and Hide Council of America (LHCA) has been awarded $1.65 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) under the newly established American Agricultural First Trade Promotion Program (AFTPP).
The investment is earmarked to diversify export destinations and expand the U.S. share of the global hides and leather market. As a secondary product of the cattle industry, the LHCA noted that strengthening international demand directly supports domestic agricultural producers and rural employment.
"We are extremely grateful for our partnership with the USDA and its efforts to address the current agricultural trade deficit," said LHCA President Kerry Brozyna.
"AFTPP funding will allow us to scale promotional activities in key markets, ensuring American hides remain the premier choice for global manufacturers valuing sustainability and quality."
The LHCA joined the broader agricultural export community in commending the USDA’s proactive stance on trade promotion and market expansion.
