Pakistani leather goods manufacturer Royal Leather Industries Limited plans to establish a specialized industrial zone in the Akhangaran district of Uzbekistan’s Tashkent region. The initiative aims to expand bilateral cooperation in the leather and footwear sector, introduce advanced manufacturing technologies, and scale up the region's export capacity to major global markets.

The project was solidified during a recent visit by a Pakistani business delegation led by Muhammad Azam Malik, the head of Royal Leather Industries Limited. Malik held detailed discussions with Nozimjon Kholmurodov, the Director of Uzbekistan’s Light Industry Development Agency, according to the Dunyo news agency. The talks focused on strategic investment projects designed to transition local manufacturing toward high-value-added products that meet rigorous international quality standards.

The establishment of the specialized zone is expected to significantly alter the export trajectory of Uzbekistan's leather sector. Officials involved in the negotiations noted that the infrastructure hub would act as a gateway for expanding the footprint of Uzbek-manufactured leather goods into premium international destinations, specifically targeting the United States and Europe.

Beyond market expansion, the bilateral project is structured to stimulate the domestic economy by creating new employment opportunities in the Tashkent region. Industry analysts indicate that the hub will foster closer collaboration among local manufacturers, integrating them into global supply chains while strengthening the overall competitiveness of Uzbekistan’s light industry.

The two delegations also outlined plans to integrate innovative production technologies into the new facility. This technical upgrade is intended to diversify the existing product range, ensuring that output aligns directly with the demand profiles of competitive Western markets.
