In an industry traditionally driven by paper order pads and manual calculations, Indian leather and footwear firms are starting to streamline how they take orders. Speaking on the sidelines of the Footwear India Expo in New Delhi, Sudhir Bhakri, Sales - Head of OVENTRA, outlined how the company’s order management platform is helping micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) eliminate day-to-day operational hassles by easing and expediting their ordering process. This, in turn, helps protect their working margins.

According to Bhakri, finding buyers is not the main challenge for small and mid-tier footwear firms. The real challenge is managing the manual mess that follows once sales representatives take an order. In most setups, agents write down orders on paper, check stock availability over endless phone calls, and calculate totals by hand at the end of the day. This slow, manual routine regularly leads to order mix-ups, delayed shipments, and wasted time for business owners.

"Our goal is to completely digitize the order process between dealers, distributors, and manufacturers," Bhakri explained on the sidelines of the expo. He noted that the platform creates a simple, unified dashboard that tracks customer orders, pending deliveries, and billing status in one place. By giving business owners clear visibility into which footwear designs are hot-sellers and which are moving slowly, manufacturers can plan their factory runs far more accurately. For instance, if a business holds 100 cartons in stock but receives orders for 150, the system immediately highlights the 50-carton production gap.

To ensure small field teams can actually use the software in B2B markets, Bhakri highlighted that OVENTRA was built for complete simplicity. The app works on basic smartphones, tablets, and web browsers, requiring minimal technical training. Crucially, it features a full offline mode. Field representatives working in low-network areas can continue booking orders without interruption; the app automatically uploads and syncs the data to the cloud the moment a network connection is restored.

Addressing how OVENTRA differs from complex enterprise software, Bhakri pointed out that heavy ERP systems are often too expensive, complicated, and slow to implement for smaller footwear units. Instead of hiring dedicated IT staff, firms can simply upload their existing product lists via standard Excel sheets. The platform instantly configures complex footwear sizing—handling sales by pairs, sets, or full cartons—and integrates smoothly with everyday accounting software like Tally, Busy, and SAP.

By replacing paper catalogues, physical entry errors, and constant follow-up calls with a direct digital flow, Bhakri underlined that these leather and footwear companies can save significant time, cut unnecessary paperwork costs, and process orders faster across their networks.

Developed by parent company Giga Soft Systems, OVENTRA focuses on secure, user-friendly B2B interactions. Besides core order booking, OVENTRA’s key features include dedicated tools for article verification, detailed catalogue lookups, performance metric analytics, and OTP-based authentication to ensure trade data remains secure between authorized brand partners.
