Leather Industry seeks growth push in meeting with UP Chief Minister

Yadvendra Singh Sachan, Regional Chairman, Council for Leather Exports (CLE) and Managing Director, Growmore International Ltd. met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday to discuss measures aimed at strengthening Kanpur's leather and footwear industry and enhancing the state's export competitiveness.
The meeting focused on reinforcing Uttar Pradesh's position as a leading global hub for leather manufacturing and exports. Key issues deliberated included addressing the challenges facing Kanpur's leather sector, developing new leather clusters, creating modern industrial infrastructure, attracting foreign investment, fostering international collaborations, and improving the global competitiveness of leather and footwear products manufactured in the state.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of strengthening the industry's export ecosystem through coordinated efforts between the government and industry stakeholders.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath acknowledged the recommendations presented by the industry and assured continued support from the State Government to facilitate industrial growth, boost exports, and create employment opportunities across the leather value chain.
Industry representatives welcomed the Chief Minister's positive response, expressing confidence that sustained government support and closer public-private collaboration would help accelerate the sector's development. They noted that the proposed initiatives could further strengthen Kanpur's position as one of India's foremost leather and footwear manufacturing centers while expanding Uttar Pradesh's footprint in global leather and footwear markets.
