Italy's leather industry took center stage in Madrid

Italy's leather industry took center stage in Madrid as UNIC (Association of Italian Tanneries), in partnership with Assomac(Association of Italian manufacturers of footwear, leather goods and tanning technologies), highlighted the strength of the country's leather manufacturing and tanning technology to Spain's fashion sector.

Held on July 2 at the Consulate General of Italy in Madrid, the event was organized by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) under the theme "Conexiones de Futuro" (Connections for the Future). The gathering attracted more than 180 representatives from Spanish fashion brands, leather manufacturers, institutions, and media, reflecting strong interest in Italy's premium leather expertise.

The presentation emphasized the competitiveness of the Italian leather supply chain, showcasing the integration of high-quality leather production with advanced tanning machinery and manufacturing technologies. Speakers highlighted Italy's commitment to innovation, sustainability, craftsmanship, and international collaboration within the global leather industry.

Fulvia Bacchi, General Manager of UNIC, and Agostino Apolito, Director of Assomac, outlined opportunities for closer cooperation between Italian suppliers and Spanish fashion companies. They also promoted Italy's flagship leather industry exhibitions, Lineapelle and Simac Tanning Tech, which will be held simultaneously from September 15 to17, 2026, at Fiera Milano Rho.

The Madrid event reinforced Italy's position as a global leader in premium leather production and tanning technology while strengthening commercial ties with Spain's fashion and leather sectors. It also underscored the importance of international partnerships in driving innovation and sustainable growth across the leather value chain.
