Italy has been selected to host the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS) World Congress 2029 after the IULTCS Executive Committee unanimously approved the country's bid.

The successful proposal was presented by Tomaso Pellegrini, who recently assumed the presidency of the Italian Association of Leather Chemists (AICC). Italy's bid showcased the strength of its globally renowned leather industry, integrated supply chain, and a forward-looking vision centered on innovation, sustainability, circular economy practices, and digital transformation.

The 2029 congress will also feature technical visits to Italy's leading leather manufacturing districts, providing delegates with opportunities to explore advanced production technologies while strengthening scientific and industrial collaboration across the global leather sector.

The event will hold special significance as it coincides with the 125th anniversary of AICC. Italy's proposal received unanimous support from all 20 voting members of the IULTCS Executive Committee, reflecting strong international confidence in the country's ability to host the prestigious event.

Preparations are now set to begin, including the appointment of the organizing committee, selection of the host city, and development of the scientific program for the global leather industry's flagship congress.
