The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the acquisition of a minority stake in global sportswear brand PUMA SE by Ancat Holding GmbH.
The proposed combination involves the acquisition of 29.06% of the issued and outstanding share capital of PUMA SE by Ancat Holding GmbH through a secondary share purchase. Ancat operates as an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of ANTA.
Ancat functions strictly as an acquisition vehicle and does not currently carry on any active business operations within India or globally. Its parent company, ANTA, is principally engaged in the research, development, design, manufacturing, marketing, and sales of sports products, including footwear, apparel, and accessories.
PUMA SE is a global sportswear and athletic footwear company that designs, develops, markets, and sells a broad range of sports and sports-lifestyle products. The company operates both directly and through its various group entities.
The fair-trade regulator noted that a detailed order regarding the approval will follow.
