In a significant expansion within the commercial footwear sector, athletic brand adidas and GLO Brands B.V. have announced the launch of ADIDAS PRO WORK. This new safety footwear range marks adidas' official entry into the personal protective equipment (PPE) market, blending the brand’s athletic design heritage with industrial-grade protection and ergonomic performance required for industrial worksites.
The debut collection is strategically positioned to address evolving workforce demands in sectors such as logistics, manufacturing, and transportation, where professionals increasingly require safety footwear that offers a balance of comfort, durability, and modern aesthetics. To accommodate a diverse workforce, the initial product rollout includes dedicated women's models engineered specifically for the anatomical shape of the female foot to ensure a more supportive and precise fit.
From a technical perspective, the ADIDAS PRO WORK range is designed for both controlled environments and mixed surfaces under wet or dry conditions. The line features a lightweight construction utilization, incorporating a textile anti-penetration insole, a fiberglass toecap, and a cushioning EVA midsole to minimize fatigue during long shifts. Additionally, the footwear is ESD-certified and metal-free, making it suitable for sensitive operating environments. Select models in the range also feature a specialized Pressure Equalizer system to cushion the midfoot and relieve physical strain during prolonged kneeling or crouching.
The marketing and design strategy emphasizes 360-degree brand recognition, integrating the signature adidas three-stripe detailing to ensure the footwear is identifiable from all angles during active labor, such as climbing, kneeling, or squatting. The
ADIDAS PRO WORK safety footwear collection will be commercially available beginning in August through select retailers and distributors across European markets, with retail prices ranging from €100 to €150. The rollout is supported by GLO, a business unit of FTSE-listed B2B distribution specialist Bunzl plc, which recorded £11.8 billion in sales in 2024 and provides sourcing, logistics, and compliance infrastructure for global safety solutions.
